Hello! Tell us about yourself and how you got started with Ruby Reds?
I've always had a passion for gardening and flowers. Designing wedding flowers was a natural progression after I studied horticulture in college. I officially started the company in 2005 designing for friends and family and from there the word spread.
When should a Bride inquire for floral services?
I suggest a bride to first inquire about flowers as soon as she has her date selected along with her venues. I also strongly suggest she have her dress and the bridesmaids dresses picked out so we can coordinate colors.
What can Brides expect during a consultation?
Typically we sit down and look at what items are going to be needed for the wedding day from bouquets to corsages and boutonnieres to ceremony and reception decor. From there we look at different colors, flower choices and containers that best to bring out the overall look of the day.
Any advice for what she should bring along with her?
I suggest a bride bring along any and all inspiration photos for her day. This will help me understand the overall look and feel of the wedding and I can suggest flowers accordingly. If there are any special flowers or an overall look of a floral design that you love certainly bring that as well. If you have a layout of your reception area that is helpful in selecting centerpiece options and fabric swatches are always a great idea.
What areas in FL do you serve?
Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra, Amelia Island, and Saint Augustine as well as the Golden Isles of Georgia.
What services do you offer on the Brides Big Day?
We offer full service delivery, set up and teardown of the event for florals. We also offer linen service.
What are the current trends and colors for weddings this season?
For the upcoming wedding season we are seeing a lot of loose and organic bouquets incorporating different types of greenery with statement blooms. We are also seeing brides go a little bit bolder with adding pops of brighter colors!
Where do you draw your floral inspiration from?
My inspiration comes in many forms from following talented floral designers around the world to the vast array of flower types found in gardens that bloom seasonally. Last year I had the opportunity to travel to Holland during tulip season. It was awe inspiring!
What advice do you have for Brides when searching for the perfect florist for their big day?
First I would check with friends for recommendations as well as review sites. Take a look at the designers websites and select one or two who's style matches the vision you are trying to provoke on your wedding day. From there, contact them and see if they have your date available.
What is the floral design process like once a Bride has said "YES!" to Ruby Reds?
Once a bride is officially signed with Ruby Reds, we will review the flower order as it gets closer to the wedding date and make an necessary changes. If a site visit is required we are happy to do a walk-through and go over the details of the day.
