Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.
Over the past five years, Dairing Events has grown into a luxury, full service, planning and design firm. I started my first company, "Your Wedding Weekender" as day-of coordination exclusive, but I soon learned that day-of coordination starts months in advance with planning (so really, why do they call it 'day-of'? It is very deceiving.) and my love for planning the little details started to really grow! When I realized I was moving away from the day-of bride world, I knew then that I needed to change my brand to follow suit. My family has always called me Dairy, so coming up with the play on my name, "Dairing" just seemed to be the right fit. I absolutely love the niche market I have created for myself and the passion for this career has taken me to new towns, new countries (including planning a wedding in Paris, France!), and have met some of the best people along the way.
What inspired you to get into Wedding planning?
I think I have always been a planner. Even when I was a little girl, I would have tea parties, I would design little arrangements from wild flowers I would pick from our yard, and I would even create my own invitations to hand out to my mom, dad, and brother. It wasn't until I was in college that my love for planning events really took a more formal shape. I was the President of our Student Council for Exceptional Children and twice a year we planned a special dance for area organizations that also worked with children and adults with special needs. Once I saw the look in their eye of a simple transformation of a cafeteria into a winter wonderland for our annual snow ball, I caught the planning bug and never looked back.
What is your favorite trend or color palette to work with?
I love incorporating shades of blues, purples, and greens. I'm not the biggest fan of pink, it's pretty, but I don't even have pink clothing! Incorporating shades of the same color really creates a depth to the palette versus limiting yourself to two or three colors. I don't like to discriminate.
Describe your style and how you implement it into the overall design and look of a Bride's wedding.
I think that in terms of style, I develop a particular attention to detail for each of my events in line with their individual style. I have worked with NFL Cheerleaders, Roller Derby Girls, Teachers, Lawyers, Fashion Developers/Designers, Nurses and Doctors, and the one thing that they have in common is that they are marrying the love of their life and they want to host a celebration in honor of that love.
What advice do you have for Brides who are shopping for their dream gown?
Be open minded to what style will fit your body best! Before I found my dream gown, I had an idea in my mind of what I wanted. Fit and Flare, Mermaid, no ruching. Well, little did I know that a dress like that just did not work at all for me and my body. I knew I wouldn't be comfortable all night (hello sucking in my tummy all day) and dancing the night away, was not going to happen. I let the consultant help guide me in finding the perfect dress for my shape and it was the best decision I made.
Do you have any go-to tricks or tips that you'd like to share with our Brides?
Don't invite more guests than you can afford. Sounds like a no brainer but a lot of time Brides will keep in their mind that they want 140 guests at their wedding because that is what their guest list is comprised of, but they decided that before making their budget. My advice is to make your budget before determining how many guests you want to attend.
What is your favorite part about the planning process?
Meeting with the clients for the first time and immediately feeling that it is the perfect fit. I might not be right for every Bride, they may not like my planning style or personality. But, when I meet a Bride and Groom for the first time and we just talk like we've known each other for years and crack jokes, I just know that it is going to be good.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I am completely inspired by the venue the couple chooses and their love story. I pull special moments from them to create a meaningful design plan. Their family, their love, their passion, hobbies, etc. It all plays a huge role in how I get inspired!
What goes through your head when a Bride and Groom react to all of the stunning work you've done for their big day?
Absolute pride. When I get to do a room reveal with the Bride and Groom and I see their reactions to seeing the space for the first time, there are tears, laughs, hugs, and chills. I know I have done a good job when even the groom is blown away.
How can a Bride contact you to set up a consultation?
The best way to get a hold of me is to use my contact form through my website - www.dairingevents.com
