Dear TWM Summer Brides,
Through hearing stories, personal experiences and by
Pinteresting daily, we have learned that summer weddings can be beautiful, but in Florida, HOT.
That is why we decided to put together some tips on how to
pull off the summer wedding of a lifetime!
There’s nothing more romantic than exchanging vows under the
Florida sun rays, with the warm breeze blowing, but it’s hard to forget about
what else summer brings: bugs, humidity, sunburn, etc.
When planning a summer wedding, take into consideration your
guests’ vacation time. Try planning your wedding on a U.S. federal holiday such
as Labor Day or Memorial Day. An extra day off may lighten the burden of long-distance
travel. When doing this, however, make sure to give your out-of-town guests a
heads up long before the wedding so they have ample time to plan and coordinate
schedules.
When it comes to the menu, this is the perfect time to take
advantage of the seasonal and locally grown food! For example, summer berries can
make a beautiful addition to any wedding cake (or pie!).
As far as the weather goes, Florida summers can be tricky.
Plan to have umbrellas present for guests (especially for an afternoon
wedding), or an indoor venue accessible. For the older crowd, make sure there
are areas of shade! You wouldn’t want anyone passing out as you say, “I do”.
Lastly, it would be smart to keep sunscreen or bug spray on hand in case
someone comes unprepared.
Most importantly, (no matter what time of year you get
married) don’t stress! It will be beautiful. Summer weddings can make for the
most beautiful settings so keep positive and everything will fall into place as
planned!
Xo,
TWM
